Hanbok Story

Korean Wedding Dresses And Attire β€’ New York, NY

About

Queens-based boutique selling and renting hanboks since 2009. Offers pyebaek services and rentals.

🍡 Editorial Take

Hanbok Story is run by Youjung Jung, a third-generation hanbok seller who sources her styles directly from Gangnam each year. The selection covers both modern and traditional pieces, and reviewers note it's more comprehensive than other Queens options like Assi Hanbok and Nabi Hanbok.

Couples can rent or purchase. Rentals come fully outfitted with an underskirt, socks, shoes, norigae, and handbag. Custom pieces are made in Korea with turnaround as fast as one week. Paebaek packages cover hanboks for the bride and groom, table setup, ceremonial food and ingredients, and an emcee. Youjung gets repeat praise for her service: she's patient with indecisive brides, pulls catalogs to help narrow things down, and isn't shy about steering people away from styles she thinks are dated. She once even agreed to make a hanbok collar for a customer's poodle.

Two practical notes: the shop is closed Wednesdays and Sundays, and it's right next to the Auburndale LIRR stop. Likely the best option for NYC couples who don't want to trek out to Jersey.
