🍡 Editorial Take

Laura Park opened LeeHwa in 1993, and three decades later she's still helping customers find the perfect hanbok. She's especially known for her modern styles, having pioneered the Korean fusion wedding dress in the US, blending hanbok with Western bridal cuts when most Korean American brides were choosing between one or the other. The shop has dressed celebrities like Arden Cho and Ken Jeong, along with the performers at the 98th Academy Awards. But more telling is the care Laura and her daughter Estella show regular customers: one Korean American adoptee was moved by how patiently they showed her how to crease the dangui near the shoulders and tie the otgorum properly.

On the practical side, bridal hanbok can be purchased outright or rented at half the sale price, and custom orders take two to three months. Paebaek packages start at $600 with the full setup included: mock food towers, decorative background, bamboo floor, silk cushions, tables, and complete traditional outfits with accessories. LeeHwa also carries Western bridal brands like Pronovias, Enzoani, Mori Lee, and Eddy K, which makes it a one-stop shop if you want to get a Western dress in the same trip. Out of state buyers can order by sending in measurements, and they consistently call out friendly communication and clean fits on arrival. For in-person shopping, appointments are strongly recommended.
